Michigan AMWA Chapter Conference
In 2011, we held our Michigan AMWA Chapter Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Many chapter members came from the Detroit area and Ann Arbor, and we had excellent representation from members on the west side of our state. A few members of the Greater Chicago Area Chapter also joined us. Kecia Brown, an AMWA member from Washington, DC, was the registrant who traveled furthest!
Cindy Hamilton, PharmD, ELS, joined us again as a workshop leader, teaching Writing Abstracts and Essential Ethics for Medical Communicators. Bart Harvey, MD, PhD (who considers the Michigan Chapter his home away from home) led Statistics for Medical Writers and Editors and also an advanced workshop, Understanding Sample Size and Study Power.
The Amway Grand Plaza was a fantastic venue, and we hope to have another conference there in the future. Grand Rapids is a vibrant, thriving city -- if you haven't been there lately, it's worth the trip!
